Emergency Scene Traffic Management for Firefighters provides the knowledge and practical skills required to safely manage traffic hazards while working at emergency scenes on or near roadways. This course prepares firefighters to establish and maintain safe work areas, protect emergency responders and the public, and manage traffic during unplanned emergency incidents.
Developed in collaboration with WorkplaceNL and the Fire Services Division of Newfoundland and Labrador, this course follows the Newfoundland and Labrador Traffic Control Manual and addresses the specific challenges firefighters face when responding to roadway emergencies. The program focuses on establishing a Traffic Incident Management Area (TIMA), positioning emergency vehicles and traffic control devices, maintaining responder visibility, and safely directing traffic when required.
