Note: The 4-hour course is not mandatory to challenge the Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A) exam. 

Course Description

The Restricted Operator Certificate - Aeronautical (ROC-A) is a type of radio operator certificate.

This certificate allows you to operate radios on board aircraft, land vehicles or in base stations, using frequencies in the aeronautical band.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for Restricted Operator Certificate - Aeronautical

Certification Process

Course participants must obtain 70% or higher on the closed-book, multiple-choice written examination to receive a certificate.

Practical evaluations include candidate:

• is capable of operating radiotelephone equipment

• posesss a general knowledge of radiotelephone operating procedures and of international regulations applicable to aeronautical service, specifically those regulations relating to the safety of life

• possess a general knowledge of the Radiocommunication Act and the regulations made thereunder
